East Lodge, also know as Llety Glyd (which translates as cosy nook, but sounds rather more graceful in Welsh) is one of the original Lodge houses of the Golden Grove estate. The original encumbents, the Vaughans of Golden Grove, were of royal and noble Welsh lineage, but in 1804 the estate passed to John Campbell, Lord Cawdor of Castlemartin, later 1st Earl Cawdor. In the 1970s the estate was broken up.  East Lodge is now owned by the Golden Grove Trust (set up to restore and preserve the house and landscape) which also owns the mansion, huge fields to the east, the country park and West Lodge which is currently being renovated.
